Greetings - I'm looking for some recommendations on where I might find the best jammed-out versions of Franklin's Tower and Bertha. Thanks in advance...

For Bertha, try 4/15/71, 9/28/72, 11/4/77, 7/8/78, or 9/5/79. None are mindblowing, but all are nice.

I have to agree with Cliff on Franklin's. 5/9/77 is my personal favorite.

I was never a big Franklins fan, though 9/6/83 is always worth a listen

But Bertha....aww...one of my favorite songs. Especially the versions where the whole band drops that those big syncronized bombs during Jerry's solo. You know, the part where he's just surfin' the waves. Nothing much better to be crusin' on the highway in my pickup and having one of the versions below crankin'. And sometimes they keep droppin'em into the, "rain into a rainstorm" line... You can tell when the bombs are a direct hit on aud recordings because a raucous cheer will usually follow from the crowd as a response to the vibrations they just felt.

4/14/72
8/6/74 - perfection
5/7/77
9/26/81 - big bombs
4/18/82
8/6/82
8/10/82
5/14/83
6/24/84 - big bombs again
6/29, 7/1/84 - a couple fun speedball versions
3/9/85 - only noteable b/c it was the first version post GG park bust? Test me,test me...
6/27/85 - flubbed a bit, but perfect sound
12/31/87 - last good one I can think of

One stop shopping - proceed to 5-7-77.

The Bertha from DP18 is pretty hot as well.

Although the show itself is way overrated, I highly recommend the first set opening Bertha from 12-31-87. This was the PPV show and one of may favorite versions, mainly due to Mydlands playing and intense backup vocals. Powerhouse rendition.
